Hurricane Harvey (Current Events)

10 people already dead. Thousands of lives in danger. Abandoned homes. People saying goodbyes to the only home they've ever known. Countless residents trapped in flooding homes.

WHAT IS IT?

Hurricane Harvey has visited that people of Houston, Texas in the form of their biggest nightmare. With continuas torrential downpours and unyielding weather situations, this hurricane has pounded the city into a state of terror. The Gulf of Mexico fueled the storm with warm waters and a lack of wind, which would have otherwise guided the storm away from land. When it first hit, Tropical Storm Harvey (later turned into Hurricane Harvey) was idenfied as a category 4 hurricane, and by this time is a catrgory 3 hurricane.

WHAT IS BEING DONE TO HELP?

- People all over are dropping every task to go and volunteer to rescue people from getting in harm's way. Texans with boats are getting into the waters to save their fellow citizens.
- Relief funds are being put together to help the people who have lost every memory, every thing they have ever known.
- Food banks are being put together.
- Houston Humane Society is helping all animals hurt by the storm.
- More organizations are reaching out to make sure that the victims that had to suffer through this tragic devastation are not alone.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Another tropical storm is expected to hit Harris County, Texas on Wednesday. People are being evacuated to ensure that no more casualties occur.
Great measures are being taken to make sure this catastrophe doesn't occur again.

The clouds may look just the same,

The world still turns everyday,

I still wake up to the beautiful sunsets everyday,
But now I've learned that everything has a way of shining bright.
